When I was once stripped of all my photo equipment by armed robbers in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, I thought only of one thing. Regardless of the knives and home-made pistols I struggled to the finish, at least verbally, mainly for what is most important for me on my tours. I was more afraid for the body of my beloved apparatus and its smart accessories than I was for my own body. It happened at the beginning of a multi-week photo expedition and I was frightened for its fate.
And the situation is always the same for us photographers. We may easily forget warm socks but never our photo equipment. We are weighed down with it, we protect it from dust and rain and we look after it in the evenings tenderly. It becomes a true companion for us and we cannot imagine our lives and travelling without it... Do you travel? Have you forgotten anything?
